Panthers is a band that played pretty agressive post hardcore that over the years turned into black sabbath/queens of the stoneage-est stoner rock. They released 2 lp's on vice records. "Goblin City" is the lead track from their 2nd record "The Trick" which was realeased in April of 2007. Justin Chearno of Panthers also played in a band called turing machine that was the first record that was produced by tim goldsworthy and james murphy under the name "the dfa". through them he met DJ McNany (Run-Roc) who was their intern at the time and later his roomate. he kept close ties to dfa and through them he met the guys from holy ghost. When the new panthers record came out they were approached by vice to get some friends to remix a song for the Scion remix series. Justin sent the record to holy ghost! and they asked to do goblin city and the delivered one of they highly acclaimed disco dubs, which made them famous. The Panthers also asked their dj ( run roc ) to do a mix of the song and he came up with an excellent oldschool acid house version. ...and PERMANENT VACATION release it as a proper 12". |
